IAWFP Certified Inspectors Dave Barkstedt, Linda Lockwood, Mickey Moore, Mark Brown, Mike Harde, and Genia Smith attended North Carolina State University (NCSU); Fundaments of Concrete Floors by Dr. Michael Leming and Engineered and Laminate Flooring Update for Inspectors by Dr.Mitchell, Dr. Denig and Dr. LaPasha.

Fundaments of Concrete Floors

Dr. Leming presented a general overview of fundamental, and practical , concepts concerning concrete floor design, construction, troubleshooting, testing, and performance; focus will be given to issues relevant to floor coverings and installation.

Engineered Wood and Laminate Flooring Update for Inspectors

Dr. Mitchell discussed the relationship between wood and water/moisture and the results of current and past laboratory experiments in their laboratory; and other case histories and studies relative to wood flooring.

Dr. LaPasha reviewed tests used for laminate flooring, what he sees in this testing and the industries concerns and future direction.

Dr. Denig discussed such issues as stability and balanced construction of engineered wood and the relationship of moisture content. Discussion of the wood industry and where it is headed.
